Heart & Stroke is pleased to welcome Douglas Cannell to its executive team as senior vice president, digital and information technology, effective June 16, 2025. Douglas brings extensive experience in technology strategy, architecture, delivery and operations, having held senior leadership roles at TELUS, IBM Consulting, BMO Financial Group and CIBC.
“Having Douglas as part of our executive team will be invaluable as we continue to redefine Heart & Stroke’s IT landscape and transform our digital strategy,” says Doug Roth, Heart & Stroke’s CEO. “Douglas is known for his innovative and collaborative approach and we’re excited to have him drive the alignment of technological solutions with organizational priorities for greater mission impact for people across Canada.”
In his role, Cannell is responsible for providing advisory support to executive leaders and working closely with teams to develop and execute leading-edge strategies that will accelerate the adoption of AI, scale data-driven insight, and unlock innovative, secure digital capabilities that enhance Heart & Stroke’s performance.
“I’m eager to not only transform the digital landscape at Heart & Stroke but to continue to elevate our ability to engage with donors, stakeholders and people with lived experiences,” says Cannell. “My own family has been touched by stroke and I’m proud to contribute to an organization that’s changing the future for people with heart disease and stroke every day.”
