In 2018, Heart & Stroke used a generous legacy gift to teach kids the signs of stroke. Eight-year-old Max was one of those kids. And just 5 days later, he helped save his dad.

The 9-1-1 call captured the dramatic moment Max recognized that his dad Mike was having a stroke. Now, 7 years later, Max and Mike are grateful for every moment they have together, thanks to Vicky and Mike Shalapata’s legacy gift.
