Seasoned human resources executive and coach joins Heart & Stroke

Joan Taylor appointed senior vice president, culture, talent and diversity

Heart & Stroke welcomes Joan Taylor to its executive team as senior vice president, culture, talent and diversity.

“With over 18 years of diverse Canadian, American and Latin American experience in the private and not-for-profit sector, Joan brings a deep expertise and innovative mindset to our culture, talent and diversity portfolio,” says Doug Roth, CEO at Heart & Stroke. “The team is looking forward to having Joan play a key role on our executive team in support of our high-performing, caring culture.”

As senior vice president, culture, talent and diversity, Taylor will be responsible for facilitating the development of organizational culture, learning and talent management strategies to support an employee base that enables business strategy and constituent engagement.

“Like so many others, my family has grappled with both heart disease and stroke, and I’ve seen the devastation these conditions cause,” says Taylor. “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be part of this dedicated and human-centred, mission-focused team that works every day to help keep families healthier and together, longer.”

Before taking on this role with Heart & Stroke, Taylor was vice president, people and culture at United Way Greater Toronto where she led human resources, organizational culture, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and internal communications functions. She has more than 18 years of experience working in human resources in a variety of progressive leadership roles where she gained extensive expertise in employee relations as well as talent, succession and change management.

Taylor holds an honours bachelor of arts in management and economic theory from the University of Toronto, is a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) and a graduate of the Adler Professional Coaching Program. Her commitment to establishing strong relationships while ensuring positive, equitable and inclusive experiences for all will be an asset for Heart & Stroke and their constituents.
