Will’s heart will never be the same.

Picture of Will

Will survived a devastating cardiac arrest.

Will had a cardiac arrest while sitting in class. As he lay unconscious in the hospital, his family was told to prepare for the worst. Will survived, thanks to a device implanted in his chest to regulate his heart rhythm. But his heart sustained irreversible damage that a breakthrough could repair.

This is a breakthrough that could change everything.

Today’s treatments can prevent injured hearts from getting worse, but they can’t reverse damage. Dr. Kim Connelly hopes to change that with regenerative medicine. This Heart and Stroke-funded research will grow new heart cells from a patient’s own cells, so that the heart can completely repair itself.
