Heart Health Ambassador, Alberta


Become a Heart Health Ambassador in your Community

Location: all Alberta area offices (Grand Prairie, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton)

Purpose: To deliver a defined, age appropriate, healthy living message to the community

Possible Responsibilities (volunteers will be given the option of choosing which activities they most want to be involved in):

  • Attend health fairs as a representative of Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Present to children in schools, seniors and other community groups
  • Provide health screening (Blood pressure checks, Waist circumference, A Fib checks)

Outcomes/Goals:

  • Inform people about how to make healthy choices to prevent heart disease, stroke and other chronic health problems

Qualifications/Competencies Required:

  • Experience speaking to large groups
  • Enthusiastic
  • Ability to engage an audience
  • Relate well to all ages
  • Commitment to representing the HSF mission and messaging
  • Reliable method of transportation

Training/Support:

  • Orientation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation mission, messaging, education material, and expectations
  • Observation of a presentation
  • Support for first presentation (and additional presentations as required)
  • Exposure to community events with support staff

Time Commitment:

  • One to two presentations/health fairs per month, depending upon demand for presentations and health fairs.
